A love story unlike any other..Loved it! Recommended

There's Something About You by Yashodhara Lal is the story of Trish (Trishna). She is overweight, single, the sole caretaker of her Alzheimer suffering father and nosy mother and then jobless!

Adding more fuel to her already chaotic and troublesome life, enters Sahil. He is geeky, lean and normal in all sense except that he is sure that he has superpowers!

Can Trish handle all this trouble and succeed in bringing her life in order?

What is that feeling she gets with Sahil?
I fell in love with the cover of this book and could not help myself from checking it out! The blurb is interesting and had me agreeing that this was a book I wanted to read.

Right from the start, my attention was captured by the story which starts with an ordinary girl trying to stay afloat in a metropolitan city like Mumbai. Trish's quirks, eccentricities and her dysfunctional family had me grinning and enjoying as I stayed glued to my seat.

The plot is seemingly plain but it surprises us when we really get down to reading the book. The author's writing style is engaging, witty and expressive. I could visualize the scenarios, feel the emotions and couldn't help myself as I got transported to Trish's life.

The characters feel like real people with real problems. I loved Trish with all her insecurities, her parents especially her mother irritated me in the beginning but then slowly I started seeing the normal Indian mother pattern in her. She is like so many other Indian mothers, pestering their daughters to loose weight, get married then have children and always having a say in their personal lives. Then when the daughters get angry, they, like Trish's mother, make sweets and other delicacies to please them.

Sahil had me falling in love with him. He is so cute with his geeky look but mature enough to know how to handle situations. He complemented Trish perfectly and had me rooting for their happily-ever-after.

Trish's friend and neighbor is also a very interesting character and had me feeling like she was my best friend too. The other characters are also tastefully developed and provide an insight into the varied facets of human personality.

The pace of the story is perfect and the story carried forward fluidly. The suspense and the interconnecting of events had me feeling impressed with the author. The many subplots in the story are beautifully executed and closed. The whole Agony aunt column gave me a new perspective to Trish's character and also to the fact that people listen to sarcasm better than they do to kind words.

All in all, There's Something About You is a love story unlike any other. It has emotional play, suspense, relationship study, some mischief and whole lot of love. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to everyone. Go read the book and enjoy. I loved Yashodhara's writing style and look forward to reading her other books soon.

Mindful love

A loser, fat, just fired, on the wrong side of twenties girl who is trying to find her calling and her zone. Who wants to read about losers, right? Wrong, we all want to know, what did she do right to be in this situation first?

The initial chapters build up to the actual love story and I found that very interesting. The moment she rescues a guy while almost drowning and then gets followed by a stranger, nearly pulverizing him!! The story warms up to a love a story very slowly, almost as if love is already there, it just needs to be accepted.

The novel has a lot of masala, magic and madness! Yes, never a dull moment. Right from the time Trish gets fired, almost dies and resurrects herself. The story of a girl trying to find herself and a guy who wants to forget himself till they find each other – could have been the tag line of the book. Two very different people but they just click the moment they meet. How they meet is another feather in Yashodhara’s cap!! Never have I read a book with not one but two meetings of this kind, well third time was indeed a charm for them! The one thing that pulled me in the book was the language. The way Trishna shares her thoughts about the things around her was so crisp, caustic and pretty much the voice of youth today.

The parents add a lot of reality and value to this book; it is not your typical fluffy romance. This story has a strong core, Trish might feel stifled with her life but this is the life she chose and will not have it any other way. The moments between the father – daughter were very endearing. The squabbles with her mom; well I think we all know why they read so familiar. Have we all not fought like that with our moms, grumbling yet grudgingly admitting defeat – can’t fool mom; can’t win from mom!!

The only odd point was the amount of medicines she gave to her Dad, a bit much but then her mother did cook a lot too! This story has a lot going on; the free loader, rich friend Akanksha and her sweet child Lisa add more layers to the story. And how can I forget the ‘Muscular Raj’ :) Will he get his own story? Maybe if he tries hard enough, he will find his sweet spot yet again!

Even though I was able to figure out what Akanksha was up to by her second appearance! It was a bit of a bummer there but still Lisa more than made up for her mother and I think for a secondary character Lisa was the best out of the lot.

Now the part that I really liked, well the letters were cool. I have read similar ones in a few magazines and they are all the rage. How Trish writes them and how they affect her helped me understand her character a lot better. Zee was so cruel for want of a better word but she was also the wind that helped Trish rise against the odds. Most of her growth was due to the treatment meted out to her by Zee. In life we do need a sudden push to get into action and so did Trish. So the clashes were like the fuel she needed to move ahead.

Sahil, now how can I not like him, cute, well mannered, kind and plays a guitar; he is so endearing. From all that he has been through, he turns out to be quite the stabilizer in the novel. The only thing I did not like was he not giving his readings of people to Trish! And I wanted to know more about him, have them alone for more conversations and just sea gazing! The charm of “You are still really irritating," and the sweet familiarity. Their friendly banter and faith in each other speaks volumes about love, much more than a testosterone charged exchange can. Sweet, practical and very endearing love; Sahil is all about embracing love in all its shades and moods.

All our lives are complicated but how we sort them is what matters most and if the companion is supportive & non-judgmental, it gets a lot easier. There’s Something About You is a breezy read with lots of “Something” – read and find out what?

Also I loved the page numbers in the middle of the page, so much easier to find where I was and the quirky arrow was cool, stylish too.

The Adventures of Tintin (also known as The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn[4] in the United Kingdom) is a 2011 American performance capture 3D film based on The Adventures of Tintin, a series of comic books created by Belgian artist Herg� (Georges Remi). Directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson, and written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, the film is based on three of the original comic books: The Crab with the Golden Claws (1941), The Secret of the Unicorn (1943), and Red Rackham's Treasure (1944).[5]
Spielberg first acquired rights to produce a film based upon the Adventures of Tintin series following Herg�'s death in 1983, and re-optioned them in 2002. Filming was due to begin in October 2008 for a 2010 release, but release was delayed to 2011 after Universal opted out of producing the film with Paramount, who provided $30 million on pre-production. Sony chose to co-produce the films. The delay resulted in Thomas Sangster, who had been cast as Tintin, departing from the project. Producer Peter Jackson, whose company Weta Digital is providing the computer animation, intends to direct a sequel. Spielberg and Jackson also hope to co-direct a third film.[6] --Wikipedia

The one where nothing happens

After the personal drama that lead to the creation of Tintin in Tibet, one of Tintin's least typical but finest adventures, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Herg� had hit some kind of creative block by the time it came to writing its follow-up. If that's the case then The Castafiore Emerald is the comics' equivalent of Fellini's 8�, the artist gathering together a huge cast of familiar characters, and without having recourse to the formula of the conventional narrative format, knowingly and self-reflexively have them run through the standard old routines and mannerisms. Nothing significant seems to happen, but it's still a hugely entertaining experiment that does open-up and shed some light on the creative process.

The familiar process of running jokes are the narrative thread that links everything together in The Castafiore Emerald when the Milanese opera diva famous for her rendition of the Jewel Song from Faust ("Ah, my beauty past compare, these jewels bright I wear...") arrives at short notice at Captain Haddock's Marlinspike manor, maidservant, accompanist and jewels in tow, to say nothing of journalists looking for a scoop on a potential romance between the diva and the captain. Poor Haddock has to endure great humiliation, not only on account of being laid-up in a wheelchair after an accident with a broken step on the main staircase (it's the services of stonemason Mr Bolt who is called on continually in this book rather than Mr Cutts the butcher, although of course he gets in on the act), but having his name constantly amusingly mispronounced by Bianca Castafiore (Captain Bartok, Captain Hammock, Captain Hassock).

That much, with the usual reliable contributions and misunderstandings from Jolyon Wagg, Professor Calculus and Thompson and Thomson, is familiar with any regular Tintin adventure, but it almost becomes the whole story here. Rather fascinatingly, despite Tintin being alert to dangers from a nearby gipsy encampment, unknown prowlers and suspicious behaviour within the household characters, the suspected theft of Castafiore's jewels ("Mercy, my jewels!") constantly turn out to be false alarms. Even Tintin seems bewildered that he's not jetting off across the globe on the trail of a major conspiracy (one suspects that he already has his suitcase packed for this eventuality).

One can see that Herg� is exploring the mechanics of his craft, delighting once again with the range and possibilities afforded by these characters he has created and is examining them to see how they would function in relation to everyday events. Unsurprisingly, even without yetis, gangsters, secret police, smugglers and international drug-dealer cartels to contend with, they all prove to be every bit as entertaining in "real life".

I ABSOLUTELY loved this book! I see Abraham Lincoln in a whole new light. Ballard is a genius in putting the puzzle pieces of his life together in such a way that you gain incredible respect for Lincoln's vision and fortitude. A great read!

About the Author
Martyn Cobourne is Professor of Orthodontics at King’s College London and Hon Consultant in Orthodontics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated as a dental surgeon from King’s College School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1990. After a series of junior hospital appointments in maxillofacial surgery and pediatric dentistry, he obtained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1994. A three-year period of specialty training in orthodontics at the King’s Dental Institute led to the award of Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and entry onto the Specialist List in Orthodontics in 1997. He was then awarded a Clinical Training Fellowship from the Medical Research Council in 1998, which allowed a dedicated period of research to take place in Paul Sharpe’s laboratory at the United Medical and Dental Schools, Guy’s Dental Hospital, working in the field of craniofacial developmental biology. This work culminated in a PhD from the University of London in 2002. A further period of higher clinical training at Guy’s Hospital led to an Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Orthodontics and accreditation as a Consultant Orthodontist in 2004. Martyn was appointed as a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at the King’s College London in 2004 and awarded a personal chair in orthodontics in 2011.

Martyn is Orthodontic Training Programme Director at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and is an MSc examiner at King’s College London. He is Director of Research at the British Orthodontic Society and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orthodontics. He is registered on the Specialist Orthodontic List of the General Dental Council.

Andrew DiBiase is a consultant orthodontist based at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Ashford and works in part-time NHS and private practice in Kent. He graduated as a dental surgeon from King’s College London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1990. After a series of junior hospital appointments in maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology, paediatric dentistry and periodontology he obtained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1994. A three-year period of specialty training in orthodontics at the Royal London Hospital led to a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and entry onto the Specialist List in Orthodontics in 1997. He carried out his higher orthodontic training in Sheffield and Leicester and was awarded the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Orthodontics in 2000, being appointed Consultant Orthodontist at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital shortly after.

Andrew is involved in the postgraduate training programmes and is an MSc examiner at the Royal London and Guy’s Dental Schools. He is active in the British Orthodontic Society and he is registered on the Specialist Orthodontic List of the General Dental Council. He is a provisional member of the Angle Society of Europe.

Once I got past Mr. Patzer blowing his own trumpet, which I think is seen as essential in the U.S., I found his approach insightful, creative and generous. The book is stuffed full of ideas and resources for rethinking one's position in life and offers real hope to those floundering in the rat race that one can grab the reins and live a better life. The whole tenor of the book is to take action in your business and life through the six-step process. Mr. Patzer offers persuasive arguments to those who are not yet fully convinced, and a plethora or analytical and practical approaches for those who want to take action.

My only real criticism of the book is that it pitches itself to anyone and everyone, but the success stories are of very smart, resourceful people. The author does address this, and for some readers repositioning themselves to be able to take advantage of the ideas in the book may be difficult. But the value of the book stands as not just someone saying there's gold at the end of the rainbow, but as someone offering a relatively good map of how to get there.

You should read it like a textbook for class

Dude... I just finished reading the book today, November 30th, 2016 and I am ready to go. This is my first time reading it. Now I'll go back through it and use it as an instruction manual. Let the journey begin. You should read it like a textbook for class. Meaning that you should slowly apply what is relevant to reduce your workload.The book came at a time when I was thinking about these very thoughts and it provided some answers and suggestions as to how I can make my life efficient. Not everything applies to me but I can definitely take away many lessons. I do love my job and I have already applied a lot of these principles, but I wish all my friends who work 9-5 cubicle jobs they despise would read this book and apply these principles and start dreaming and scheming and taking action.

Excellent Read

The majority of critics get stuck on the name as if it's a magical pill to take away life's problems. If reading this book doesn't change your life, you either are already very wealthy and manage your business extremely well, or you need to take a step back from business, re-evaluate it and come back to this book once again. I thought I had my day to day down good (have done lots of changes over the last year, but this book has helped tremendously) I promise you that if you read it once a year it will be an entirely different guide each time you pick it up.
Overall, it was an excellent read, but not really what I was looking for. The book has a ton of information for making a living online. If that's what you are into then don't wait any longer and just buy it.
