Harper heads his own management consulting firm and is a professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is also the author of The McGraw-Hill Guide to Managing Growth in Your Emerging Business (1994) and The McGraw-Hill Guide to Starting Your Own Business (1991). Harper is emphatic. He proclaims "what worked well yesterday will be less effective today, ineffective tomorrow, and obsolete the day after tomorrow." Harper advocates "ASAP management" over implementing change incrementally and stresses the role of leadership at all levels of the organization in "creating" the future. He identifies breakthrough leadership, anticipatory management, innovative systems, and a revolutionary culture as prerequisites of the "forward-focused organization." Informative and Inspiring

A very eye-opening view of the ever-changing business world. Challenges your current assumptions and forces you to "think out of the box" in regards to your company goals and personal ambitions. A must read for anyone considering opening their own business or looking to keep an existing endeavor afloat!

Harper is the best!

The author is one of the most awesome people that I've ever met. He has a newer book out though, and I would recommend that one if you don't need this one specifically. Fantastic advice on how to run an organization. Full disclosure on this review, I was a student of Dr. Harper's. I am saying "was" because that was years ago and so at this point my grade is set and this is hopefully somewhat less biased.
